Meals-on-Wheels Benefit BBQ — A Boot Scootin’ Success!
The Meals-on-Wheels 3rd Annual Ellis County Benefit BBQ, held March 29 at the Loma Linda Events Pavilion in Rockett was a great success, raising over $25,000! “The support shown from the community to make this event possible was incredible!” said Marion Reynolds, Board member and event Chairperson.
Along with sponsors, attendees, and volunteers, the event raised much needed awareness, as well as monies for the organization. Attendees enjoyed a Chuck-wagon dinner catered by the BBQ Pit, and entertainment by the award-winning Wade Hatton and the Texas Hat Band. In addition, live and silent auctions with guest auctioneer, Commissioner Heath Sims, helped raise more money for the organization with donated prizes. A special presentation from Commissioner Dennis Robinson, declaring county-wide, March as “Meals-on-Wheels Awareness Month,” and an announcement from Maurice Osborn of TXI of Meals-on-Wheel’s future plans for a regional kitchen facility to be built summed up the evening.
Top Sponsors, underwriting the event were TXI, Holcim Midlothian Cement Plant, Wal-Mart of Midlothian, Gerdau Ameristeel, Waxahachie Newspapers, Inc., Baylor Medical Center at Ellis County, and all the Chuckwagon Table Sponsors.
