& Ellis Counties participates in The Feinstein Foundation Hunger
Challenge
Meals-on-Wheels of Johnson & Ellis Counties is currently participation
in the “Hunger Challenge” of The Feinstein Foundation.
For the eighth straight year, Alan Shawn Feinstein, Founder, (www.feinsteinfoundation.org)
will divide $1 million among hunger fighting agencies nationwide
using it to help them raise funds during March and April, 2005.
“For every dollar raised between March 1st and April 30th,
Feinstein will give back a percentage of his Challenge directly
to Meals-on-Wheels,” said Amy Jackson, director of development.
Meals-on-Wheels recently mailed a letter highlighting the Challenge
in its content. According to Feinstein, many of the organizations
that feature the Challenge in their mail solicitations has increased
their donations two or three times their usual returns. The donations
can be in the form of a cash donation and/or a pantry item valued
at $1.00 per item or more.
“After the agencies have done their part, our million dollars
will be divided proportionately among all those complying with the
Challenge requirements. A maximum of $50,000 can go to any one agency.
Checks will be mailed by June 30th 2005,” said Feinstein.
Feinstein’s past $1 million challenges to fight hunger have
raised a record $350 million for agencies nationwide. All that donate
toward the Challenge makes them a partner in one of the most successful
grassroots campaign to fight hunger of all times.
“That is something that all can take great pride in,”
added Feinstein.
Meals-on-Wheels asks for help in receiving the most funding possible.
“Thank you to all those that have already participated. We
still have a full month to raise funds that will be matched. This
can only be done through the generosity of you in our community,”
added Jackson. A person interested in donating can donate directly
to either office location, through the mail, or online.
