to establish a Johnson County Advisory Council
Meals-on-Wheels is working to establish a Johnson County Advisory
Council to help guide and direct the organization in the service
to the people of Johnson County. The Council, consisting of Johnson
County residents, is a committee of the Board of Trustees. Council
members will serve as local ambassadors for Meals-on-Wheels, bringing
additional credibility and increased visibility. The Council will
work to increase awareness of Meals-on-Wheels services in Johnson
County as well as the need for greater financial and volunteer support.
The first informational meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May
17, 2006, at First Financial Bank, Santa Fe room on Main Street
in Cleburne.
Each person on the Council has voluntarily chose to participate
because of his or her belief in the mission of Meals-on-Wheels.
Electing its own officers, they will be responsible for leading
the group as a whole. In addition, the Council will elect to hold
meetings at their convenience.
“We have had an Ellis County Advisory Council serving alongside
the Board for over a year now. This Council has been a success,
and the addition of a similar Council in Johnson County is long
overdue. The response from participants has been incredible! They
will no doubt play a key role in expanding our Meals-on-Wheels services
and community involvement throughout all Johnson County communities,”
Vinsen Faris, executive director said.
Faris added, “With such an incredible group of people involved
on the Council, we are excited of the expertise, potential new contacts,
and networking possibilities they bring to the table! We look forward
to what is in store for the future of both Councils and the organization.” |
