| New Johnson County Advisory
Council Meets
Meals-on-Wheels of Johnson & Ellis Counties held its first
Johnson County Advisory Council meeting on Wednesday, May 17, 2006,
at the First Financial Bank Santa Fe room. This Council has been
established to guide Meals-on-Wheels services in Johnson County,
as well as plan for the future of the organization.
“We have great expectations for this group,” Vinsen
Faris, Meals-on-Wheels executive director said.
The Council consists of 23 local persons representing the different
communities throughout Johnson County. These service areas include
Burleson, Joshua, Cleburne, Rio Vista, Grandview, Godley, Keene.
Each person on the Council voluntarily chose to participate after
an invitation was extended to them. Each person choosing to serve
on the Council will serve a minimum term of one year, as well as
electing its own officers. The Council will be expected to increase
the awareness of Meals-on-Wheels in Johnson County both for service
and fundraising purposes.
“This Council is long overdue. We (Meals-on-Wheels) have had
a functioning Ellis County Advisory Council for a year now. The
Johnson County group will work alongside them and the Board to further
expand our services and community involvement in Johnson County,”
Faris said.
In attendance at Wednesday’s meeting were: Travis Adams,
Kristi Adcock, Cynthia Allen, Nita Carroll, Susann Eller, Kim Henderson,
Rick Holden, Keith Kelly, Benjamin Leach, Mike Majors, Elizabeth
McPhail, Wes Nelson, Alfred Vega, Harry Waldron, and Weldon Whiteman.
Other Council members include: Art Brucks, Frances Hafford, Donna
Maples, Pam Orr, James Roden, Mary Strange, and Kay Walls.
Faris added, “With such an incredible group of people involved
on the Council, they will no doubt bring additional credibility
to Meals-on-Wheels in Johnson County. We are excited of the expertise,
potential new contacts, and networking possibilities!” |
