After taking a year off, the Munster Mansion, located in Waxahachie, is getting prepared for its 7th Annual Charity Event scheduled to be held Friday and Saturday, October 30 and 31, from 7 p.m. to Midnight. This year's event will benefit Meals-on-Wheels of Johnson & Ellis Counties.

As in years past,  the Munster Mansion, which is an exact replica of the 60s era sitcom, will be open to the public for tours, as well as Pat Priest, "Marilyn Munster" from the cast of the original TV series, will be on hand to greet guests and sign autographs. This is the only time during the year when guests can tour the interior of the Mansion.

"We are excited to be a part of this unique event this year," said Amy Jackson, development director of Meals-on-Wheels. "This celebration is family-oriented, child friendly, and benefits the elderly in our community!" she added.

Admission to the grounds is free. Tickets to tour of the Munster Mansion are $20 for adults and $12 for children 12 and younger. Assorted food and drinks will be available. Entertainment includes a Fortune Teller, Armadillo Puppet Show, DJ, Face Painting, Midway Games, Bounce Houses, Balloons and a Children's Costume Contest with prizes. Free shuttle service will be offered from Waxahachie Seventh Grade campus at 2401 Brown Street to the Mansion.

Meals-on-Wheels is also asking for volunteers to help work the event, from leading tours to helping with games and concessions. Volunteers may dress up for the occasion, as well as bring their families.

"Although we have ongoing volunteer opportunities to deliver meals, this is a chance for people who cannot be available during the weekday, to help Meals-on-Wheels," Jackson noted. "We would love for volunteers to come out and be a part of this great cause," she said.

Also new for 2009 is additional updates to the home, making this years version of the Munster Mansion the most accurate and up to date yet. In addition, a newly crafted "Spot," the Munster's pet dragon that lives under the staircase, will be making his debut. This year's celebration will also feature Rucker Posley's recreation of the Dragula, the car driven by Grandpa Munster on the television show, as well as a recreation of the "Coach" which was the Munster's family automobile. Charles McKee is building the replica car from the ground up.
