Meals-on-Wheels of Johnson and Ellis Counties is pleased to announce that they have been awarded a $1,000 grant from Subaru of America, Inc. and Meals On Wheels Association of America (MOWAA) as part of Subaru's "Share the Love" campaign. The grant funding will help Meals-on-Wheels serve nutritious meals to seniors in need during the month of December 2009.

Meals-on-Wheels is set to serve over 50,000 meals this holiday season, both lunch and breakfast. Over 700 people are served daily by caring volunteers in 22 communities throughout Johnson and Ellis counties.

"This is the season of giving and we are so thankful that Subaru has decided to give back to our program to help us deliver meals to our clients for the holidays," said Vinsen Faris, Meals-on-Wheels executive director. "This grant truly is a gift."

Subaru, which was the only auto manufacturer with a sales increase in 2008 and continues to outpace the industry with record-breaking sales, will continue its mission to give back to charities in need. The "Share the Love" campaign will run from November 21, 2009 to January 4, 2010.
