About Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels of Johnson & Ellis Counties is a community-based, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that serves homebound seniors and disabled persons throughout Johnson and Ellis counties. Established in 1976, the organization serves a two-county service area that covers more than 1,700 square miles. The philosophy of Meals on Wheels is simple. Emphasis is placed on individuals versus numbers; communities as opposed to governmental boundaries; and timely services versus waiting lists.

Our Mission:
Ending hunger and isolation. Delivering dignity and independence.

Our Vision:
Committed to the wellbeing of our communities by serving the children of yesterday

Our Values:
Compassion – We care deeply for the seniors, in our communities, struggling with depression, isolation, and hunger
Integrity – We are transparent with our finances and communication
Community Serving Community – We are collaborative, team players committed to engaging local volunteers and donors to serve their local seniors
Planning today for tomorrows seniors – We continue to be innovative and focused on extending our reach as we diligently serve those currently in our care
Generational Giveback – We are advocates for the elderly in our communities and to care for those who once cared for us, is one of the highest honors

Our Impact:
We mobilize across 1,700 square miles, each week day, to ensure our seniors are well-fed, safe, and reminded of their value to their community. With almost half of our clients living alone, we are a formidable advocate for a vulnerable population facing food insecurity, unattended injury, and loneliness.
